I let my IACV soak for an hour after removing to loosen & remove all of the black powdery stuff. I cleaned the inside of the Intake at the IACV connection with a long toothbrush while the IACV unit was soaking.

Plus it takes time to disassemble & reassemble the IACV parts to check for broke/sticky plunger & spring.

^You have pics of the new and old?

Nope.. On the other SR20 site, there was a picture but now it doesnt show up.. You can maybe see the spring on a parts page (on Courtesy or RockAuto). But, its real obvious..

When you take the unit off and look on the inside, the new type IACV will have a large spring at one end. If the spring is missing, you have the old type IACV. Nissan changed it to keep the unit from clogging (as often).

I'm putting a new one in mine soon too. I got one for Pete, I know he didn't install it yet.

Great picture 228k... Thats it exactly.. Its a ROYAL PITA to access and remove!! Only inches to work and the bottom bolts are completely hidden (you must feel your way).. Definitely worth paying someone to do..
