No Roller Test cause Jensens car is lowered!!

Had the same situation a few years back.
Its not that bad... Do the following:

1. Pay the emission late fees first...
2. Take $500 worth of emission related parts & labor receipts with you and get the waiver.. (turbo parts dont count!)
3. Then ask them to reset your next test to 2 years from the date paid.. (So you wont need to go thru this again next year!!)
4. Take the Wavier & Emissions reciept and go to DMV for new stickers...
. . Its only the normal 2year price!!

Bottom line, you will only pay:
. Emissions Late Fees ($14 fee*13 DMV-28day-months-per-year=$182) &
. Registration Sticker Fees.. And will be good for 2 years...

You're in the $300 range.... Not too bad!

Then DONT let this happen again>>>> Giving the State Free Money

At last test I failed for CEL caused by:
Rear O2 senor - I was running 96 G20 ECU in my 98 SER (now rewired)
Crank position sensor - I was running a Fidanza flywheel (now removed)

CO and Nox were both well below the maximum. Set my timing to 10 degrees and limped to the testing station. Didn't really do anything else since the first test except verify the idle speed, and I had to change one of the coolant sensors in the intake manifold. All three readings were still lower than my initial test.

Finally figured out the trick to passing Maryland emissions:

Install coilovers on your car. Slizzamm the suspension so low that the car bottoms out when its attempted to pull onto the rollers at the emissions station. Get tailpipe test only at idle. Drive away happy.

Seriously, a couple friends had said they had gotten around emissions testing by lowering their cars (both guys autocross and had adjustable suspensions -- one of them even went to the test with 13" Panasport wheels just to make sure).

So I tried it this weekend on my SE-R, lowered the car, took it to the emissions station in Columbia, and the car bottomed out on the rollers. Literally, the guy couldn't move forward or reverse for a couple seconds. My girlfriend sat in the passenger seat for the test and started freaking out on the guy doing the test. "What are you doing??!! I told you it was too low!!" I was in the holding pen trying not to laugh.

They got it off the rollers and just did an idle test, and the car passed with flying colors.

See, to prevent them from actually bottoming it out, you got to ask them things like "Hey, since my car's too low...are you going to pay for damages if it gets stuck or bottoms out?" Most times they won't even attempt it at that point.

But either way...luckily for me, the station here in Washington County doesn't even have the rollers anymore. And from what I understand, MD is doing away with the roller test all together.
