Bring back the 6spd conversion flywheel?
We've been contemplating on bring the 6 spd conversion flywheel back and wanted to see how much interest there would be for it.

Give us some feedback and we will see what we can do.

Thanks

More than likely yes. Anything bigger might run into problems with the starter/ring gear.

This wont affect the rest of the parts availability for the 6 speed kit, right?

6sp swap is definitely in the long term plans for the new p10, would be nice to know all the parts are readily available.

Didn't the input shaft not go all the way into the clutch with this flywheel? I remember someone on G20.net pointing it out and taking pics.
HOWTO: 6Speed in a P11 - Page 7 here is the link.

The flywheel on the left is the mazworx and the right is my competition clutch flywheel. Not much of a difference

This is a picture taken with the tranny and engine bolted together. I took the clutch fork out and stuck my camera in the opening. As you can see there is a good 3/4in gap between the Throw out bearing sleeve and the diaphragm of the Pressure plate. The Throwout bearing would definitely come of the sleeve with any engagement.

I put some putty on the input shaft and wanted to measure how far into the clutch disc the input shaft could go. The length of the clutch disc spline is roughly 1 inch. This measures just under 1/2 inch. Meaning the input shaft only goes into the clutch disc only about 1/2 in. I figure one good launch could possibly shear off the splines on the clutch disc.

This is info from the link I posted. user Stabone from G20.net posted his findings.

yeah, thats why the flywheel is exactly and i mean exactly 1/2" thicker than the stock flywheel. There are other flywheels out there but non available for a 215mm clutch. The gspec uses the ka24de clutch and the jwt flywheel uses the 350z clutch which requires significant grinding of the bellhousing. The ka24 clutch goes in perfectly. I believe the first batch of flywheels from gspec had clearance issues but that was resolved if im not mistaken.

A good lightweight flywheel to use a 215mm clutch that fits with no clearance issues would be good as well especially if the price is right as both other flywheels are around 500 bucks.

I think more and more people will start going to these gearboxes. They definitely take severe punishment a hell of a lot better than any other trans available. Coheeds been abusing the crap out of his on the street for a while now in his full weight se-l and 500whp, Ive abused the crap out of mine with zero issues, and many others are using them without any problems as well.

The 6 speed really is one of the best things you can do to these cars. Screw the old 5 speed boxes. All of them.
