I was talking drag race, not track... but maybe I'm wrong.

I say it's a lightyear apart from the stock 4.176, and my point is I didn't feel that way when I put the N1 cams in, so I wonder why this (or the 4.44) is not the first choice of mod for most people. But then again, maybe I know jack...

If I were building a drag racing car, this would be a must-have on the parts list!
Daily Driving, I actually want the best mileage I can get so I have to settle with the 4.176.

Ive had a 4.3fd Pulsar box on my SR20 and I now have a 4.4fd VZR box on my SR16 and I managed excellent mileage with the 4.3 and get around the same with the current one.

Im talking 450miles to a tank on a fully bolted on high compression DE on a couple of occasions.

Going from a 4.3 to a 4.4 is not as large as a jump as 4.1 to 4.4 (or 4.785)

I ran the sr20 for a year with the 4.3fd box then another year with a 4.1fd box, cant say I noticed any real difference.

I did see an decrease in the MPG with the 4.78 on my DD.
I have not measured how much but it did increase, specially since in first and second its very hard to short shift since you are barely moving at less than 3K RPM...

I went back to the stock FD in another SE-R gearbox and I could see an increase in the MPG...
But I loved it, the 4.78 makes the car rev a lot faster, and is very cool to drive in the city since you can move around mostly in 4th and 5th, but for highway sucks big time, at 4.5K RPM and you are hardly keeping up with a grandma...

I cant wait to put it back together. The mechanic that installed it made a mistake and it was not put right so I had to take that gearbox out, put the other one again to figure out the issue, now another mechanic has it, and he figured out the problem and is going to get back on the car soon
