I'm surprised there is not more feedback on people that have used these! Or is everybody just happy with what they got?

I mean, there are not many ways this can go wrong, it's just a gear set. I have the 4.785 and it is great: I'm just happy with what I got!!! And yes, they do fit the VLSD SE-R gearbox. These $600 are better spent on this that on any other single mod like N1 cams, Pistons, maybe even better than a 4-1 header...

I personally believe I need a bit more power for it, since I have a VE with N1s and bolt-ons (about 180WHP?, luckily 190??). I wouldn't do a 5.0 or 5.1 FD, unless well beyond 200WHP...

Why would you go with even shorter gearing if you had more power?

For us we choose FD's by how much gear we need by track. I'm using a 4.44 right now, but I could probably use a 4.78. A 5.0 would most likly make me run out of gear in some bad spots.

The shorter gearing allows the N/A engine to gain rev's very quickly.

I know this. I'm running shorter than stock myself. Saying you need 200hp to run a 5.0 make no sense to me.

Exponential amplification of the power. More power calling for more gearing is greater acceleration, correct?

It sounds like a win-win any way ya cut it to me.

I'm running this on a 1.6 vzr n1 in Ireland and its the best mod ive done to the car so far.

Ive done pretty much every power mod I can think of now bar go 2.0 and this was the best by far. Matched with a lightened it transforms the acceleration of the car and is so much faster to get into up into the powerband.

Other way around. The more power you have, the taller the gearing you can run. You get to a point of diminishing returns as you shorten the gearing. The trick is to make the most power over the broadest area and have the most usable acceleration curve. Too tall and the car bogs, too short and you're always shifting or running out of gear. I'd love to try the 4.78. Right now I'm too low in the revs in a critical part of my home track (with the 4.44). The 4.78 might be a bit much to drive on the street to the track though! I'm glad it's available. I'd love to test one out!

I run it and its great in the vlsd DE box makes for a nice even gear spread.

I think Blair should get it and see how he likes it.
