How to: Install Mach 1 Lip On Just About Any Car
Installing the Mach 1 lip is actually really easy, just takes some time to get it cut and shaped right.
Mustang's body is not as wide, thus the lip starts curving a few inches before out bumper ends.
It's also too long, you need trim it to clear the wheel, but don't trim it to bumper until you are done and have everything bolted up. This will prevent you from overtrimming it!
Get the front lined up to the bumper, use big clips to hold it in place as you center it.
Then simply drill out the holes in your bumper (you can use lip's drilled holes for guidelines).
Now comes the fun part, make slits in the lip until you get the desired angle.
Check fitment, drill, and bolt it up
Very simple and easy to do! Take your time on it, it was getting late and I accidentally cut the drivers side in a few wrong places, but it's very forgiving, just make up for it by adding bolt on screws to hold it in place.
Be ready to scrape everywhere! I personally think the lip sits a little too low and might remove it until I install the TEV bumper (which sits about 1" higher then stock P11 bumper).
Some cell phone pics, isn't it sad that cell phones take better pictures then digi cams?
Now the main reason why I wanted to do this lip is actually for better aerodynamics. If you look at the stock bumper is not low enough to cover the 3" downpipe and IC piping thus creating more drag.
Lip helps divert the air to the side of the car and avoid those walls essentially.
