Thread: HOW TO: Ghetto-rific front lip install (from Home Depot/Lowes)

First..I assume no responsibility if you damage your car or injure yourself during this install. You should use all appropriate safety equipment (clothes, goggles, etc etc etc). This posting reflects my experience with this install only. Yours may vary.

With that being said...........................................
I have absolutely no mechanical aptitude, and I got this to work. So you can too. And for using a 6 buck bag of 9ft of garage door bottom seal, and a 4 dollar box of self tapping screws, and using the 35 year old Craftsman corded drill my pops gave me, it came out alright...and yours will prolly look bettaR!
I cant take credit for this idea, I got it off of clubwrx, and I think the guy there got it off of NASIOC...heres their pic....


So whatcha need-....9 feet or so of rubber garage door bottom seal...comes in a bag. And its about 2 inches wide...



Make sure you use a self tapping screw like these...I tried screws with smaller heads and they went right through the foam rubber strip



Tools...all u really need is a decent drill and a pair of scissors to cut off the remainder when u get to the other side..just make sure you cut it so its equal on the other end where you started, and make sure its a long enough scissors so the cut is nice and straight. You see a screwdriver here because my drill is so old the reverse doesnt work anymore, so if i go to far and need to back out a screw, I had to do it by hand LoLz.



Heres what the underside of my bumper looked like after screwing everything in place...inserted a screw every few inches apart. Make sure u zip a screw in far enough back towards the rear so u dont accidentally miss and scratch up the front of the bumper, and keep your eye on where you want the lip to line up with the bumper as you go across the front of the car with the install. I also jacked up one side the car on each half of the install so I could get the drill under the car, just be safe and make sure you use jack stands.





And when I was done, it looked like this...

I guess to updated this thread I'll show my Home Depot lip. It's just the plastic lawn garden divider. It comes in a 20ft package, like the OP said you need about 9ft so you could always go half and half with a B13 buddy.
All I did was use the groove on the bottom of the bumper as my guide where to line the garden divider up. I used sheet metal screws and of course a drill.

I put the round end down and used the flap on the top to cover up the screws.

I just finished this mod on my car as well, I think next I'm gonna do the garden gnome hood emblem mod.

howd u get the rubber to bend?

Has anyone tried the Garage Lip V2?

i would think using a heat gun
