HOW TO: Restoring your plastic lights (head/tail/fogs)
Plastic Light Restoration
What you will Need:
1.Soapy Water (spray bottle or bucket)
2.1000 Grit Sand paper
3.2000 Grit Sand Paper
4.Buffing Compound (I used 3M Swirl Mark Removal)
5.Wax or Polishing compound (I used Zymol Car Wax)
6.Mothers PowerBall Mini
7.Drill or drill press
^Before:^
1.I recommend taking the headlight off of the car, amd start to sand(1000 grit) your light dipping the sand paper in water often, do this continually for about 5-10 min depending on the state of your lights.
2.Repeat step 1 only this time use your 2000 grit sand paper, this will make visible scratches lighter. After sanding it should look like this.
3.Now proceed to coat your light with your rubbing compound distribute evenly
4.Now grab your Mothers powerball mini or whichever polishing ball you may use and place it in you drill, buff off all of the rubbing compound using some pressure (dont set the drill too fast or use too much pressure as you may burn the plastic on the lights). once all the compound is off you may want to repeat as necessary.
5.By now you should have a fairly new looking headlight, but we will take it a little further for a better finish, grab your car wax or meguiars plastix, smear it on the headlight and polish with your powerball mini until its all gone, now you should have your restored headlight.
Should look something like this.
Enjoy!!
