O2 Sensor Grounding Mod Update
Dude, I hope that we havent been misleading here..
We are
still testing this and do not have provable results yet..
Any mods performed at this time is still only preliminary at this point!
And hopefully more people will participate in our efforts here...
O2 Signal Results using Exhaust Grounds:
- After applying the grounding straps: Signal improved during 1st two weeks and then drop off suddenly.. Unknown reason but long term improvements were not gained.
Failed
- Using a heavy gauge wire and attaching to a ring around the header O2 bung: Signal fluctuated due to vibrations and improvements were very minimal. Tacked it in-place with very minimum improvements.
Failed
O2 Signal Results using 4-wire O2 sensors
- Tried a few Ebay 4-wire sensors. Sensors were
not model 15727 sensors and ebay dealer could not identify the exact model number.
Vadium tryed these sensors on his 99 Sentra (ODBII) with some mpg improvements.
Partly Passed
But on my 93 NX (ODBI), the sensor did
NOT work as the Voltage was too high with one and too low with another.
Failed
- SkyShepard in Post #140 installed a real 15727 sensor from RockAuto on his 91 NX2000 (ODBI). His preliminary results showed success. The level of improvements is unknown and hopefully he will post on-going improvements.
Passed
==============================================
Last Friday, I finally ordered a real the Bosch 15727. I will install and start testing this weekend.
Once I monitor performance over a 2-4 week testing period and its successful, I will post a HowTo with pics (pictures will only show the grounding to the Intake Mani). I will also try to estimate the expected level of improvements for this mod.
We are not going
back and forth on this... Tests are failing as noted above and we are going back to the drawing board trying other things.
Hopefully, this is saving other forum members the frustration and saving them from wasting money/time installing stuff that
dont work ! ! !
BOTTOM LINE
We simply dont have a defendative solution with provable results yet..
Our latest approach using the real 4-wire O2 sensor 15727 appears promising but Im not willing to say this works completely yet...
We are trying to improve MPGs, improve idle, and hopefully improve bogging at low RPMs.
If we fix only one of these, I will consider the time & effort a success.
You are always welcome to offer other suggestions or provide your test results.
But the FAT LADY is still on the stool and she aint freaking singing...
Sorry...
