Yep... Its Vadim's fault...

What I meant to say is:

The Middle position is always the Signal position.... LOL

Making the correction now...

Ive been on the phone with Calum for a few hours tonight discussing the impact of the Calum ECU on the O2 sensor.. Very interesting discussion.... Our writeup is going to have so many variations, its going to make your head swim... Calum ECU and Calum Realtime could also impact this too...

Example:
If you have a stainless steel head,
..If you have 3-pin O2 sensor
....If you have a Calum ECU....
......Do this...
....Else
......Do this....
..Else
....Do this....
Else
..Dont do this mod...

Wait how does the Calum ECU get affected by changing out the sensor? Is the ecu not so friendly to new sensors?

!!!! Ah crap !!!!! I'm not going to screw something up am I?

Ok so am I cool with this? I have a 15727 attached to my SSAC header, grounded to the ecu ground on my VE swap, calum ecu, OBD1, b13, with a grounding kit just because I had it from my de that I never got to install. I wired the 4 wire sensor for signal being the middle wire of the connector (to add to my frustrating confusion the engine side connector has the wires B W W?!?Does Bosch have it wrong as well? or is nissan just messing with me some more? I did notice pulling the o2 sensor that it had a LOT (it was black) of carbon on it. going to pull a sparkplug when it's light and check them out... I've been getting pretty bad milage for a tank of two but I've been high rpms a lot too (VVL is SOOOO cool).

With this setup will I blow up the car when I start it to go home tonight?
I'm hoping that the bosch sensors are both kosher. I'm guessing that since I now have them wired the same way they are either perfectly correct or both totally wrong and since I've been driving that way for a while now I'm guessing they're right.

Fingers crossed though. I'll post when I get home with success or disaster.

EDIT: Must have been at least partially successful. made it home with no funny smells, car seemed to drop no normal idle sooner and I had a jumpy idle (glitch in the custom tune I'd guess) that seemed to be greatly diminished by this. Car did idle at 1K for a few minutes after start before dropping to the 750-800. hopefully mpg's will go up as well but now I'm worried that I might be running too lean...any way to check easily if I've only got the basic calum ecu?

Wilser,
Everything seems normal from what you describe.
Your O2 wiring is fine... The middle wire for signal is correct.
Its the Nissan screwy wiring color setup that is killing us here.
No color scheme standards across models, years or anything that I can pinpoint.

You will not blowup your car!! Your car is doing just like mine as far as idle and startup.
I would do a couple things with Nissan Datascan to validate everything:
- Check your timing (sometimes you must adjust it a little)
- Calum ECU likes 15degrees for timing (timing is automatically advance internally)
- Check your Idle for correct setting
- Pull your spark plugs and validate the gap and color are good
- Clear any codes if present.
- Reset Learning Mode
You should start seeing improvements after a few tanks of gas.

BTW, I really like your setup..

Well i think i have come to a conclusion and can now swap in the new O2. I dont pay special attention to my driving habits as to not slew the data. I just drive how i feel like driving that day and most of the time it evens out. But my MPG's are all over the place. From 30-34 MPG's and all the same from work and back driving. I do get on it almost everyday but cruse around the same speed all of the time, i would consider it pretty consistent driving on average. So i will see what it does with just changing the O2 and going from there. I will reset the ECU as i do this since when i had battery issues my MPG's were worse. This will give me about the same starting point and about after a week it seemed to get it self figured out.
I will keep you guys posted as i go as usual.

And to think I just bought a new 3 wire Bosch. WHy did I just see this thread.
So question. Is this mod worth it to everyone and does it work with the factory ground strap or bypasses it all together.

It "should" help if you have a Stainless header if you are talking about the primary O2. The secondary is not needed and can be faked out. The secondary only operates if the primary is non functional. I can honestly say that it can not hurt going to the 4wire style since it will make for a better ground, but if you are using the stock header it may not help much if any, but still cant hurt.
