Stratton, I see where you're coming from. For the money, you're probably right.
They aren't for everyone, but I believe a CSK solution with ground control sleeves and 2.5" springs can rival any other coilover system. (But I guess I'm not the first nor the most reputable person to say that.) CSK's plus sleeves is not just a nice coilover system. It is the coilover system. If you can make them yourself, you can also save quite a bit, even if you do spend a little more for them than say for Progress or similar.

I agree,unless you happen to find a really good deal on the CSKs on a conventional spring

ben and eggman i agree. csks are dope no doubt, but when you price it out dollar to dollar a set of k-sports or d-sports are about the same if not less.

i myself run a conventional set up spring and strut, love my set up just wish i had a bit more travel so i could go 2 inchs lower. so i do see were a csk for the right person would be a smart move.

Except that with the Koni set-up (either with RM/Hyperco or GC collars), you have a much, much, much better damper (strut) than with K-sports, D-sports, Teins, or any other reasonably priced B13 coilover set-up. A strut that can be easily rebuilt by Koni if they should ever fail.

98sr20ve, who knows more about this than any of us, says the CSK (Hyperco/RM or GC sleeves) is the thee best suspension for our vehicles (barring super high-dollar custom stuff which is really only applicable for very serious track hounds).

On a street car CSK is definately the way to go. You would have to drop the car off a cliff to kill the Koni reds. I have had them 6 years strong now on NYC roads with no sign of sag or losing dampening. I JUST split a bumpstop. Thats damn good. I would have been thru 2 sets of AGX by now.

to me this is very misleading, it makes it sound like you are shortening the part that comes in the mail from Koni, when you are actually shortening the OEM strut housing, and consequently enabling the lowering of the mounting position of the koni damper. This is where you get your 1" of travel back.

You are shortening the part that comes in the mail from Koni. You are not shortening the OEM strut housing. At least that is not part of the basic CSK process.

You might cut the strut housing for other reasons, especially when going with a new (lower) spring perch or much shorter springs. But there is no need to cut the strut to get your travel back in the basic CSK conversion and that is not the part that people have trouble wrapping their head around. You will experience spring bind with RM/Hyperco springs mounted on the stock spring perch WAY before you run into strut housing clearance problems.
