How can you identify Nissan VVL camshfts?
This is something I have always wondered because there is no part # on the camshafts, at least that I know of. How would you be able to identify a camshaft just by looking at it?

They have diffrent colors on them. No one VVL cam shaft has the same color on the same camshaft.

SR20VE
Red on the intake
Mauve on the exhaust

SR16VE
Green on the intake
Beige on the exhaust

N1
Orange on the intake
Green on the exhaust

20V
Green on the intake
Black on the exhaust

SR20VET
Orange on the intake
Yellow on the exhaust

This would be good to know. I'm always skeptical buying some cams when for all I know, they could be stock sr20ve cams.

SR16VE has green on the intake if I remember correctly or it could be the other way around

N1 has green on the exhaust

I dont know all the colors off the top of my head but I willput up the color codes of the camshafts when I get home

I always thought there was something with colors but I'm fairly new with vvl stuff .I havent had that much exposure to all the diffrent vvl engines and camshafts.

This will helpful for a lot of us! Thanks Dre

I know they can be measured but, my thing is being able to identify them without any tools.
