Great thread. Best thing to do is just get a VVL valve cover to get rid of the oil catch can.

so is the factory catch can the little back box that sits at the right corner of the valve cover when your looking at it in the bay, trying to learn more about nissan's since i have 4 of them now and i was wondering what that box is

If you eliminate the full throtle part of the pcv system a vaccum leak created at idle and while on vac. by the unmeasured air of the part of the vave cover that goes conected to the intake duct before the MAF...

You're right about the unmetered air. I feel like that's one part of the system I haven't explained well at all. I'll make sure to do that.

Since you asked and I don't have that example up yet...
It's a bad idea. It's exactly the same as doing the breather filter on an older DE. Same deal really. Same pros and cons. I'm not going to tell someone not to do it, I'm just trying to give people all the facts so they can decide for themselves if it's worth it to them to modify the system in certain ways.
