What do you guys think about running a B13/AD18 setup on a B14. It looks to be a beefier setup than the B14:
B13 OEM Rotor Size: 250 x 18 mm
B14 OEM Rotor Size: 234 x 7 mm
The calipers look beefier as well
The B13 setup is less than 2 lbs heavier than the B14 and its 7 lbs lighter than the AD22 setup. What do you guys think about running this setup with upgraded pads? The car is my daily driver and I'm just trying to make it as fun as possible. I'm not going to race or autocross the car, but I'd like to think that, one day, I'll take it to the track (whether that actually happens or not is another story).
B13 calipers have smaller piston bore size (48mm) so that is surely a downgrade. The B14 caliper and AD22VF calipers both share 54mm pistons so they can have similar braking qualities. The AD22VF have a larger sweep area which will make them superior along with a thicker, more heat-resisting rotor width.
The rotors are the same on the front of a B13 and B14 SE-R. 18mm thick.
Since you do not want to stomach the extra weight in upgrading to the AD22VF caliper/rotors combo, you should stick with your B14 brakes and just get good quality rotors and pads.
PowerSlot rotors and Carbotech brake pads would make it surely fun.
Class is out.
