I've heard the maxima rears make the rear brakes very bias. I've known a few people who switch back to stock. I'm talking track cars though.

Heard Hawk HPS are a good street/autocross pad.

Jose, its funny how people are constantly looking for ways to be faster, but conveniently forget about wanting to stop, LOL.

morgan/stratton, you guys talking about the willwood setup? And if so, morgan do you mind talking about your setup a bit? It'd help the thread.

Anyone have experience with the Hawk pad, or any others that they wanna share?

Im going to use the template that we have in the tire thread

I have experience with Hawk HP+ Hawk blue, Carbotech Ax6, Xp8 and Xp10

Car: 1993 Sentra SE-R
Suspension: Progress Coilovers, Ground Control camber plates, Unbalanced Engineering bumpsteer kit,
Wheels: 15x7 +41 Kosei K1, Tires. Toyo RA-1 225/45/15

BRAKES: OEM NX2000 calipers ad22vf. Brembo OEM replacement rotors. Crown Stainless lines. MOTUL RBF600 fluid.

Use: Autox/trackday/racing

Cost: Approx. $100 and up

Brand: Hawk. Hp+. PN HB213F.626 Eclipse application.
Very very good street, auto-x pad. Light dusting. slightly noisy.

Temp range. 100-800 deg F.
It can be used at an HPDE as well. This will put the pad at its extreme upper range. You will have some mild flaking of the pad, quite possibly glaze and fade them

Not recommended for serious high speed competition use..

(I have run dozens of autocross. Daily driven these for months Run HPDE 3-4 and Instructor groups with NASA as well as Time Trial with these.

Dont expect or ask something the pad cannot deliver. If you are going to track your car dont abuse them and it will do just fine. About the best all around street biased pad out there. Just know its limits.

Brand :Hawk Blue 9012 Compound pn: see above.

SPECIAL NOTE: Due to the aggressive nature of the Hawk Performance Motorsports Compound pads, they are not recommended for street use.

They do not work very well at all until they have at least a little temp in them. They will trash a set of rotors quick.

Temp Range: 250-1,000 degrees Fahrenheit

Competition use only. They are an excellent pad but slightly dated technology. For us that have the NX brakes its one of the few true race pad compounds out there. They are robust, nearly fade free, slightly grabby, produce caustic dust which will eat up your paint and your nice shiny wheels. If you are running this pad chances are you have a second set of wheels and your paint job isnt the priority. Probably the most popular pad out there for amatur motorsports. If you trailer you car to events, or are willing to change pads and rotors at the track this is an excellent choice. I saw this pad win races Yesterday.

Brand. Carbotech AX6

Temperature range (50°F to 1150°F +)

Engineered for Autocross. Low noise, daily drivable. Provides an excellent initial “bite”, and very progressive brake modulation and release characteristics. high fade resistance, Friendly to rotors excellent cold stopping power, and non corrosive dust.

AX is NOT a race compound, AX6 shouldn’t be used by any intermediate or advanced track day drivers, and should not be used with “R” compound tires (racing tires).

Carbotech XP8

Use HPDE Time Trial, Time Attack, Race

Temperature range (200°F-1350°F+).

Carbotech XP8 is a racing compound. Outstanding initial bite Easy on rotors excellent modulation and release characteristics. High fade resistance, non-corrosive dust.

Excellent as a front brake pad for lighter ITA, ITB, ITC, SRF, H4, H5, and other cars that weigh less than 2,400lbs. Perfect for novice, intermediate and advanced track day (HPDE) use with any tire, and can still be driven safely to and from the track.
I drove this pad for an entire summer. I put hundreds of miles on them and replaced only because a suck caliper ruined them. It is very noisy when cold.

This will be the next pad I buy.

Carbotech™ XP10™ (1110™
use HPDE Time Trial, Time Attack, Race

Temp range 200-1650

This is the preferred compound for the front of SCCA Improved touring classes, NASA Performance Touring, Time Trial and HPDE instructors
Similar to the XP8 but with a higher temp range Very noisy like the xp8 but can be driven to the track if you are very careful. This Pad is on the edge of safely streetable.

Ill have more later. There are a few more options for our cars that I would like to cover.

I personally don't run the setup my brother does. He runs the 11" willwood and stock rears and it stops on a dime and perfect for the street. You don't need anything more on the street in my opinion.

So after 4 hours of grunting, groaning, and cussing, I've come to the conclusion that OEM NX wheels wont fit my I30 brakes. Luckily I had a couple extra SE-R's to throw on. I'll try again when i have light to make sure, but I dont think that'll change much. Thread updated.

thanks zach. that'll work perfectly. How does your brother like that setup on the track morgan, if at all.

was it due to the off set of the wheel or just the outter part of the calipers?

That's exactly what I couldn't see due to the lack of light, LOL. I'll get back under it today after work and find out for sure. Its weird that it wouldn't fit them especially after they fit the big ass NX fronts. Which reminds me, I need to stop and get rotors and pads.

Alright, after further review, the NX wheels WILL NOT fit the rear maxima rotors. The top of the bracket scrapes the inside of the wheel. I got pics, but they weren't very good ones. So when I install the good rotors, I'll take pics of what exactly happened when i test fitted. With some grinding it MAY fit, but I didn't want to get all custom like that for the thread.
