New tire review!

Car:1993 Mazda Miata LE
Suspension: Bilstein PSS Coilovers
Wheels: 15x7.5 TR Motorsports

Brand: Bridgestone
Model: Potenza RE-11
Category: High Performance Summer
Size: 205/50/15
Weight: ???
Use: Autocross
Life: Hopefully the rest of the autox season.
Cost: Just under $100 on sale from Tire Rack or any participating Firestone/Bridgsetone location.

Review: Dear god! I thought the Kumho XS' were great. The RE-11's told them to STFU and go home. Compared to the XS these have a more forgiving limit. If you were over driving the tire they had a little more of a "buffer zone" before they completely gave up and you lost it.

Here is a link, that might work, to a picture of the Miata with the brand new RE-11's. Pic

Yes the Miata is Satin Black, yes we painted it ourselves, yes we used 25 cans of Satin Black, and yes it is not a finished paint job. Yes it is gangster as f*ck.

'91 SE-R
Progress set up
solid mounts
Enkei RP-F1's: 15 x 7, +35 offset, 9.9 lbs

Car is na, no major upgrades, just a cai and still on the original clutch.

I've had ES100's, totally crap tire after the first 4000 miles and horrible in the rain.
Goodyear FS-G3's: wonderful tire, great in the dry and even better in the wet. I would have bought another set but they stopped making them in 15" sizes.
SPT's: bleh, not bad, not great. Better than the ES100's, not nearly as good as the Goodyears.

I've just had the Neogens installed, they're 205/50/15 sized. I decided on these mainly because of the price, plus, I couldn't find a truly bad review on them... unlike some of the other less expensive tires out there. And seriously, these are some beefy ass tires. They seem to absorb the bumps fairly well, so far. I've got to finish fixing some play in my control arms(bushing problem), then have them aligned properly.

I'll get some pics up later. And, once I've put a few hundred miles on them, I'll start pushing them a bit to see how they perform. I'll update then.

205/50/15
260 treadwear
Traction AA
Temp A

I picked them up for $56 a pop.

Ok, they've now got about 1500 miles on them. Still like them a bunch. It's been raining like hell, lately, and the handle the wet just fine. No signs of skidding or hydroplaning. They have plenty of grip, haven't managed to break them loose ... yet. They are a little softer feeling, which is great when you have a stiff suspension and solid mounts. But, they've handled everything I've thrown at them, wet and dry. Would they work on the track, autox or road course? Don't know and don't care at this point. They're better than the ES100's ever were and better than the spts.

Great and best bang for the buck tire I've had on the car... so far.

Winter Tires

I've been wanting to get something for the next 3 months but I've been struggling to pull the trigger on Blizzaks. Thinking maybe Firestone Firehawk Indy 500's, they are 75% the price .. and appear to have a better tread for dry pavement.. anyone have any experience with those tires?

Review: When I was looking for new tires I was set on either these or Falken Azenis. I went with these and I love these tires they have excellent grip in dry conditions, they are way better than the Goodyear F1's they replaced. They are also amazing in the rain, which was great because I heard the Falkens were not so great in the rain. I would buy a set of these again I Have no complaints about the tires.

Specs:
Tread wear - 300
Traction - A
Temperature - A

Anyone else ever run Toyo Proxes T1-Rs? I've got them and I love them, but that was on my SE-R with a different suspension set up. I'm looking forward to mounting them on my NX with AGX/RM combo. Any impressions? These are a great street, summer tire.
