I really don't mean to be a downer, but I still think any kind of 'road test' is not going to get you reliable accurate, repeatable data.

Your current variables are: wind speed, wind direction, tire wear, tire pressure, humidity, air pressure, acceleration variables, your route, altitude changes, hills, gas evaporation?, not to mention you may have a vacuum leak or injector leak?

Kudos for optimism, though!

They can be good, but it seems like the regular coppers are just hard to beat, they are cheap and seem to work the best.

That is very true, when I test my items, I try to use the same route, but can be hard because police or people might be in the way

But this is Break Horse Power/Crank/Flywheel. I noticed no matter what I do, or which gear I am I would get the same ball park numbers.

Now I tested a 1996 Maxima GLE with the ScanGauge's BHP gauge, now this is an Automatic, so its fairly hard to get accurate RPM for readings hehe.
But it showed 205 BHP. One of the front O2 sensors is down though, and 4th gear hehe...

^I agree with you Louis. I don't think there is a quick fix for good gas mileage/consistent gas mileage testing. I said this on the old forum. I changed gas stations and got better gas mileage. It's just to many variables like you stated. I just try to keep my car tuned up with good tire pressure and keep as much extra weight out of the car as I can.

^Best results so for.

That O2 sensor thread is a good thing, but it is a bit of a headache at times.

The maxima BHP is right on target! Those years came with 205

Are you kidding? Indexing and side gapping the BKR6E-11 spark plugs is the only way I could get them to get as good gas mileage as Bosch Platinun +2 plugs, accept these are a lot cheaper and last a long longer.

If there was nothing more to gain out of spark, we wouldn't need a catalytic converter.

I will have to say my car doesn't stink as much with gas like it used to. I don't have a cat

Intersting thats good to know! The stats online show 190 BHP...

^On which part?

I still haven't done the indexing thing yet, but my gas mileage has been better as of late. I got 340 miles out of a full tank running BP 93. So you saying there is a quick fix? I was implying in my post that I didn't think there was one. If so, let me know and I will go outside on my lunch break and try it out . I want put any other plugs but NGK in my cars. I see you like or semi like bosch. There plugs don't get my vote. I had a bad experience with them. I may look into the O2 sensor they make though. I still have my eye on that other thread.

Gas mileage could have gotten better because you finally used up all of the winter fuel. Like if you never drive to empty and fuel up at say half or quarter tank, you would still have a mix of winter fuel in there. Plus look around the gas pumps, not as much ethanol might be being used.

The only reason I liked Bosch plugs is because with them I would get 28MPG mixed driving, and with NGKBKR6E-11's I would get 21 mixed driving.

Thats a HUGE difference , but part of the reason is because of the Bosch +2 ground design

I will post readings etc. when I get back from my honeymoon

^Everytime I go to the gas station my gas light is on. I fill up until it is near spill time with BP 93 and calibrate my car religiously. I even use the same pump ,....... pump #7. You can ask the BP lady in FortO. and she can vouch for me ........ 10% ethanol mix added......The sign is on every pump. I still say NGK FTW. I do need to try the index thing out though.

Haha I hear ya, I think the Shell guys are used to seeing my blue sentra

Our gas may contain up to 10%, so probably has less then 10%...

NGK FTW, I agree, but I think the way the Bosch +2 are designed is the key here. If we get our NGK's to look similar to it then will be doing the same, aka Side gapping

So take a look at this and see why the Bosch Platinum +2's design is the better design then Bosch Platinum Plus or NGK's. Now this is only for the ground electrode design, not the rest of the plug, Bosch Plugs suck, mine lasted only ~20k miles!

NGK BGKR6E's

Bosch Platinum Plus

Bosch Platinum +2

I just bought a dremel, so I will be side gapping my other BKR6's and posting a write up. Right now I have side gapped BKR's on my Sentra but i had to bend the ground electrode too much, and they are too old hehe.

^I see what you mean with the last pic. I gotcha now bro. Thanks for the info. I may have a couple of Q's about the index thing you did. I'll shoot you a PM about it when the time comes.
