Thread: Avenir/Bluebird Vacuum Hose Diagram

Idle breather needs to be hooked up to the IC piping before the throttle body. Get it all wired up according to that diagram and you will have no issues (unless you have faulty IACV etc.) I personally have been running it like the diagram above for years and it's fine.

Hmm, I don't have a nipple on the IC hot side :-/
And where's vacuum suppose to go to the charcoal canister?

EDIT: I'm an idiot. It just dawned on me I'm confusing the charcoal canister with the oil separator.....forget that one, lol! I no longer have a charcoal canister.

IC piping = Intercooler piping, not IC it self. Look at the stock intake for non turbo, you know how they have a 5/8" nipple on them? The only ones that don't have it is 00+ G20's and B15's, which will need it too.

I added one with JB weld and it's been holding fine.

I see you don't run an oil separator. That's what I was going to do years ago but so many people advised against it. What's your theory?

My theory behind it is owning a Roller Rocker or VE . But in all seriousness you can run a VE valve cover (Roller Rocker wont fit on due to baffles being lower), then you don't have to run the ugly catch can. I'm doing so on my DET right now.

Hmmm! VE valve cover actually sounds optimal with my setup scenario. Because I failed to think it through to the end when I had a stainless pipe + flange welded to the avenir cast manifold for my external WG, the flange and WG now sit right in front of where the catch can use to mount on the head in the factory location. So with my re-route as described in my previous post, I really had no other choice but to mount the catch can on the firewall.

I've read the N/A link in the past, Bens turbo write up wasn't complete yet. I've been outta the loop for a few years since my daughter was born :-) I'll try to either find the thread of the re-route or simply post a pic later. But yeah, a VE valve cover would be perfect! Now, who's parting!? Lol!!!

Well technically the stock black box is not even a catch can, it's an oil separator (baffles that separate dense oil vapors from just air), which should reduce the amount of actual oil goes into your intake pipe. Still it's not as efficient as a proper oil catchcan though.

So I got my truck all squared away today enabling me to take my car off the road. I plugged the nipple I had welded to the intake, after the MAF and before the turbo....this I had running to the manifold nipple you (Vadim) have labeled for BOV. I re-routed my BOV to that location, removing it from its boost controller T'd after the throttle plate TB nipple location (if that makes sense, lol!). Now, I set out to remove the IC piping at the throttle body to begin fabricating a bung for my currently plugged IACV breather port. However, my elbow is a coupler, not a pipe. Racking my brain how to now pull this off I began another project; replacing the lock on my toolbox. In doing this I basically stumbled upon a solution to create a bung for the coupler. Here's a picture of the locks' shell with the actual inner lock keys removed. As you can see it has threads which I can squeeze a nut on securely to keep it airtight. You think this will work ok? Diameter is damn near perfect!!!
