Thread: Engine Hardware Torque Specs

Can the below specs be used with vvl metal head gaskets also? TIA

Head
Tighten all bolts to 29 ft-lbs
Tighten all bolts to 58 ft-lbs
Loosen all bolts completely.
Tighten all bolts to 33 ft-lbs
Turn all bolts 90 , then turn another 90 degrees

The torque specs have nothing to do with the headgasket. The torque specs have to do with stretch characaristics of the head bolts. So the answers the torque specs for the factory NISSAN bolts will be the same ass listed no matter.

i dont understand that part where it says loosen all bolts completly...then turn to 33ftlbs. if i loosen all the bolts completely wouldnt that bring it back to 0?...then i just torque to 33ftlbs and its done? can someone explain it so i can understand plz. thanks.

i usually do the arp at 20 40 60 80.

you tighten them to seat the head gasket then re-tighten them to final torque specs

when i installed my head yesterday i got between 69-75 ft lbs final torque for the head bolts

Quick question, are these torque specs the same for all sr20 engines? Like det, ve?

what sequence do you use when you tighten down the head bolts? do you just start in the middle then work your way out?
