Family Friendly Project.
Sorry but the pics were taken down to pending
patent. Once everything is final
the pics will be back up.
Thank You.

Well this is the first time I have been able to get around to posting up some info on this project.. Actually... lol I just pondered it and started it this A.M.

Call me a wacko.. because my wife seems to think I am.

So... TO THE POINT! Two months ago I had a little boy. And even before we had thought about having a baby I have been looking for stealth system that will make me a little more happy about security and not take up my whole trunk. Plus needing the room for a stroller and grocery's.

Previously I had bought 4 eD EU-700's. Just because of the deal I didn't want to pass it up. Still only using 2 of the 4 I had them in IB in my rear deck pushing about 200 RMS to them. But I want something a little more solid. And have been for about 6 months now.

And here was the plan.. After messing around and cleaning up a little yesterday I took out my spare to clean up in that area. And thats when I realized that in the side frame of the tire was pretty **** big. So from there.. I came up with this.. And if I have this right.. Ported.. I'm looking at about .85 cubic ft. And a mounting depth of about 4".

Done with the ramble... PICS! Let me know what you all think.

Basic Idea..Something I stretched up last night...

Pretty cool to open up the trunk and seeing a big smiley face in the trunk.

Keep them sealed. I dont think they will sound as good ported. I am not familiar with those subs but seeing that you do not have a whole lot of space it might be better to keep them sealed. I would re-inforce the bottom some more and a MDF ring around that to use as a base for the actual baffle that you would use. By doing this you can nut and bolt the top and bottom half together with some foam gasket material in between them. Then you can try it ported and sealed with very little effort. I would also mount the subs from the bottom and use some sort of flat grill over them so you can put stuff over them without damaging them. I would also make a base in the trunk out of MDF so you have good support for the box.

You have a good start so keep it going.

Well the plan is to try it ported 1st. Just because its recommend for higher out put. These little bitches can take a lot of power. As much as 200RMS and 400 peek.

I will use that idea about the tops.. Not a bad idea.

As for the bolt down.. Its not going to be all that hard. I'm going to glass in a 1/2" by 4' long piece of PVC right down the middle of the box. This is going to leave a tunnel for a newer/longer bolt to hold everything down. I am also looking in to some dense foam about 3, 3x4" pieces with a half moon cut out of it glued to the bottom of the spare tire well to keep the tire from rocking and also to help it stay nice and tightly bolted down.

And I have a few idea for the carpet and sub depth. I have been searching for some pics of what people have done.

LOL.. I thought you would get a kick out of that Tom. Depending on how family time goes tomorrow I will take another trip and get some wood.

Seeing this got me motivated. I ran some speaker wire to the passenger door today. Tomorrow I will do the driver side.

I did something similar to this in a Matrix and it turned out pretty good. It was only 1 12 because i didnt have a whole lot of volume to work with.

I like the idea, it makes room for stuff you need and makes it somewhat stealthy. Keep us posted.

Well apparently... Volume is my enemy!

So after some measuring and talking back and forth with some people my depth. Which was figured out from this:

((3.14 X r X r) X L) รท 1,728

In turn came out to 0.36 cu. ft. And that is not good at all. So that means my original numbers were fubar! SOB!

So when I need 0.5 cu. ft. I'm at a nice loss. SO... here is my solution which will cause more brain storming on the scale of trying to keep the box below the trunk floor board. So this is what I came up with.. which will more than likely double my airspace.
