what plugs are these?
Hi, i attempted to try and get HID's for my 01 sentra but I ran into a problem. Can anyone tell me what kind of connections are these? I tried some H3 foglight HID's from OPT-7.

the orange one is the connector that comes from my car.

The blue connectos are from my fog light housing.

the HID came with these two huge connectors that i have no where to connect to.

that blue plug doesnt look like its for a bulb, looks like it plugs into the back of the fog light housing (which would use an H3 in most cases inside said housing)

kinda seems like the orange plug is the same way. Most headlight bulbs you're gonna see 3 wires (ground/high/low) not just 2 unless it for a fog light which is either on or off (power/ground).

I'd have to see your whole HID setup in order to give you correct info but in most cases those wires are not used.

FOR EXAMPLE (I pulled this off google image search, pretend those wires arent cut) but I'm guessing the cable you are confused about is the on to the right (not part of the actually bulb)

For most setups the 2 plugs from the actual bulb will go to the ballast, then the ballast will goto the cable for relay to switch Hi/Low (considering you have a one bulb headlight system) otherwise you'd have 4 different bulbs (2 for low, 2 for high) and that would plug straight into their plugs from the car). In the case of one bulb for Hi/Low you'd plug the relay adapter cable to one of the plug from the car and I usually throw a plastic bag and rubberband over the other side harness from the car to keep water from getting into the connector cuz you only need to connect one connector.......does that make sense?

I pulled this image and edited it real quick to help describe what i'm talking about. So the red arrow plug is from your car. You'll plug the adapter harness with the relay to that plug (only one side) and connect it to the power and ground (the harness circled in orange). That harness will have plugs for the ballasts to plug into it, and from the ballast the 2 plugs that goto the bulbs. The little 2 wire cable you have there in the picture usually comes attached to the bulb but does come or go from or to anything. Just toss it out, you wont use it.

Note in this picture it only shows connecting one ballast, but obviously there will be two plugs, one for each ballast. Usually one has a short lead for the drivers side (closer to the battery) and a long lead you'll put over on the passenger side for the passenger side ballast.

yeah, the maker gave me a different kind of wires that are over sized. I thought I would recieve the 2 prong like the picture, but i guess not. I thought about splicing the fog light wires onto the wires he gave me, but i didn't want to just in case they crap out on me. The bulb doesn't exactly fit the housing either. It's too long for the cotter pin thing to hold the bulb in place. Does anyone know of HID fog lights that fit the 00-03 ? I was thinking about just settling for phillips 5000k bulbs.

BTW do those 2 prong/ pins have a specific name? I know the bulb is H3 but what the hell are those 2 prongs called?

Well the thing is becuz of how HID bulbs are made you'll get the same base for H3 bulb but they are gonna be longer than halogen. Thats just how they are made, just like for the most part to fit it you'd prob have to cut out the back to allow the wires to go out of the housing. I dont have a P11 but im familiar with the housing and it doesnt seem deep enough (much like the B13/B14/NX and even the P10) to allow the space for an HID bulb to fit. Another thing to keep in mind is those housings are meant for halogen bulbs obviously so using HIDs in them would scatter the hell out of the beam. Might not be a big deal becuz of how low they sit, but it'll be scattered none the less. You might be able to find some LED bulbs that could fit, but most inexpensive LED bulbs will just be for looks and not really function unless you spend big bucks for a quality bulb (but im not sure how big they'll end up being). In conclusion you're prob better off just using a halogen bulb unless you are willing to mod the hell out of the housing to fit the HID some how.

Bump. Just a quick reply. The guy uses "universal" spade connectors, but after research it looks like they are h7 or h11. Possibly h1 connectors. I most likely could have gotten around it by ordering a 9005 ballast relay wire. I read that h3(fogs)=9005(headlight ) they're the same pin size.
