Yeah, heres a little bit of how I did mine if it helps you at all.

I masked off this corner because the other corner has the hatch light on it. As Jody stated to me previously, if you have no light there or feel like moving it somewhere else that side would probably be the better side to use to put that extra weight opposite the driver weight.



What I ended up with after trimming the extra off of edges.


Wrapped in fabric and coated in resin after mounting the speaker ring on some spre pieces of wood shims I hot glued in place.


This is what I ended up with, excuse the carpet wrap, I have to redo it cause I was in a hurry and a spot got over lapped. For terminals I currently just screwed in 2 bolts on the back with 2 nuts on the inside and 2 on the outside of each bolt to twist the wire between. I do have a "real" terminal to install at some point but I have to cut out a big hole for it to slide into and screw down the corners. The amp is just screwed into the plastic trim piece that holds it in place like it is.

@speedricer how many layers did you lay down?

I'd say about three. I used about 2 packs of the fiber cloth and a pack of the thinner fiber patch. The black felt material I draped over the open space is just soaked in resin (i didnt add anymore material to it as it felt thick enough) but I of course reinforced the inside corners where the material met the fiberglass to make sure it was sealed together on the inside as well. One thing i noticed (and you cant tell from the angle of the picture) but if you look in the 2nd picture the front left corner droops in a little bit. This happened when the resin cured it kinda pulled it in a little bit. Not much that its even hard to tell when its installed, but if you really look you can tell its not completely vertical straight up like it should have been. Just something to be aware. I'm pretty new at this myself so i'm not sure how I would have gone about avoiding it. Perhaps maybe a better quality resin would have helped.

The more hardener you put in the faster it will dry, obviously, but it will also make it shrink more and be weaker. When I am doing more structural stuff like this I do not use much hardener and let it dry overnight. I have used quite a few different types of resin and the stuff at a paint/body place is usually nicer to work with and more consistent.

Well yeah, I've never really used too much because I liked having extended window and not go through so many brushes lol. In my research I've found quality can be a factor with this also. I haven't used too many, mostly just bondo which I imagine isn't the worst but certainly not the greatest.

I also just remembered keep an eye on the shelf life...i once did a project with hardener that had been sitting for about a year, that factor had slipped my mind. Never really hardens and you can't build on top of it so i had to start over lol. :o
