Alternator Not Charging, question before replacement.
92 SE-R, alternator quit charging, but no lights are showing on the dash (battery, brake) and its not making any abnormal noises, every alternator Ive ever had go bad on me on an SR will usually start making a horrible growling noise, start smoking, and/or have the batt and brake light illuminate some or all of the time, has anyone had this issue where its been a fuse or relay other than the actual alternator? Or is my speculation of the alternator just no good, correct?

Did a quick search for fuses and relays and found none directly related to the alternator, so I replaced the alternator, vehicle is charging like a champ.

This exact scenario just happened on my 4dr (DDB)...just seemed like a very slow voltage draw but no dash lights or abnormal noises. Junkyard alternator FTW!

The battery light turns on when the voltage in the system drops below 13.0 or so. It's possible your alternator voltage regulator died so it is overcharging, which can kill the battery without you ever noticing. Although, it tends to also kill headlights, taillights, indicators, ECUs, and such...

hooked up a DVOM to the battery before and after replacement, before was at 11.6, with no lights, not flickering or anything, replaced alternator, sits at around 14.2. I thought the battery light would be illuminating at this point, but, in my case, it wasnt.

Check your fuses. Previous owner and myself went through 3 total. Ended up being one of the 75 AMP fuses, specifically for the battery. Good luck and keep us posted. Also make sure your grounds are in order!
