Engine Harness
Since my car is close to 20 yrs old now and a lot of the wiring has definitely aged in the heat of Arizona, I'm contemplating the idea of just creating a new harness. A few of the connectors in the bay have also become brittle and broken in the dry heat. I know of places to buy automotive grade wire, but does anyone know of a good place to buy the ECU connector and various connectors on the harness? or is the only place to get it the dealership?

Thanks!

If it ain't broke, don't fix it is my viewpoint on this. ...unless you don't mind spending $1000s on connectors that are only going to get brittle again after a few additional phoenix summers!

You'd be better off driving north and getting a harness out of a self service yard that isn't in the desert!

True. Some of the connectors are broken and are seated on with a prayer! But, good point about the service yard option. Here in the east phoenix metro area there used to be a few yards to choose from, but the one remaining now charges an arm and a leg. If I can't find the connectors for a decent price, I'll probably put a wtb ad in the electronics section here.

^ Pick-a-part in Mesa charged us $30 for a harness for our g20 (just that it took over 2 hours to carefully remove it without breaking any connectors)

...and we are always there thanksgiving week when Ecology on Broadway has 50% off day on Black friday

ooo 50% on black Friday, that's awesome. I'll have to look them up. Last I went to pick a part I had to pay $110 for a used GA compressor. I should have just bought a rebuilt one online for just a few bucks more.

LKQ in Chandler had 50% off on July 4th (they had 50% off at all LQK self service yards actually because that is the day we were in the LQK in chicago getting stuff for our own g20 actually)

Wiring specialities has new Nissan connectors. Look for them under S13/SR20DET/240sx/Silvia. There are a lot of them that will cross over to the FWD SR20. If you are really thrifty, you can find the connectors on electronic websites. IIRC a lot of the connectors are by Sumitomo, but that is from memory.

Nice I will have to look them up. I think I'll pull another harness and really inspect it good. Any wires or connectors looking iffy will be replaced.

Send the harness to wiring specialties. He can make a new one for you.
