Thread: Harness question, Care to give insight

Ok, So my jwt ecu has been shipped out and on it's way back to me! I have a huge parts pile awaiting it's arrival. Not all of it is going on right away as i've been working on this slowly for a couple years now.
So I have one area where it has become an issue and I need to get this taken care of so when the ecu show's up I can get to firing the car up.

Here's what I have 94 sentra b13 base model, originally 1.6l. So I had bought a harness awhile back from the other forum he assured me it would work. I believe it was from a 93. Well after research 91-92 are the same 93 is diferent from 91-92 and 94 is different from 93-92-91. I purchased another harness from a member on here and it was a piece of junk, suppose to be from a 94 partout uncut untouched. Turned not to be a 94 well after I payed for it. Harness finally show's up and it a mess of spliced and cut wire's. In my eye's unusable!

So here's my question can anyone send me in the right direction to where I could find what each wire for the underdash connectors are for so I can possibly look to see if i can just repin the under dash connectors. I've looked through the fsm and have labeled the connector but can't seem to come across anything that would label each wire in the 2 plugs.
also if anyone know's anyone selling a 94 se-r harness that would just make life easier, Lol. This is the only issue I have before I can get the car running.

You can make the 93 harness work with plugs from the 94 so hang on to them both.

93 and 94 are the same from my experience

the only thing that will be different is the 2 connections under the dash by the ecu that control the fuel pump and such. I have converted 92 and 91 harness to 93 and 94 harness by simply repining those two connections

Yes this is where I'm currently at. So far all the plugs are fine except for the 2 under dash plugs. I am tryin to find out how to pin them properly but can't for the life of me find wire diagrams for those 2 plugs. I have both harness still. Thanks dave

Check the FSM in the information library. It has all of the connectors in there. The bad thing is there is no one place for the connector, you have to find each wire and find out where it goes. I have converted a B13 harness to fit into my B14 then into my P10, you just have to put the right connectors on.

So basically I'm going to have to take the harness apart (tape wise) and follow each wire to it's plug and do the same on the chassis harness? Thanks Dave

Some what, only on the under dash plugs. There should be 2 plugs, you will have to "change" the plugs over to match your chassis. You can cut them off of another harness and match the wires to the new engine harness. Dont go off of wire color alone, look at the manuals for each car and match up pin locations of each to make sure you get the correct ones together. Cut one wire at a time them splice it together before moving on to the next to avoid confusion.

Yes that's where i am currently stuck, The 2 under dash plugs. I have kept the 2 plugs from the 1.6 engine harness. Would you recommend soldering those plugs in place or just re-pinning the plugs that are currently on my sr20 engine harness? I'm a bit of noob when it come to electrical stuff. What would i be looking for in the fsm to find each pin location is where i'm having trouble or just not understanding. Lol. I've found what the plugs are labeled (forget exactly but example) M33 and F22 (i've got them written down at home) but cant seem to find anything that directly links a pin location to one of said plugs. I'll keep reading through the fsm and hopefully come across something that cause's a spark in my head. Lol Thanks I appreciate the help. Dave

Just FYI, you don't have to do this if you want to use a multi-meter (continuity tester) instead.

ok look at the two plugs that are part of the chassis harness under the dash and you see where the wires come into the plug. now look at the engine harness and see where they come into the plug. The difference if i remember correctly was that different years used different spot on the plug to make the connections.you will see what im saying once you look at the connecter themselves. only like 3 or 4 of the pins are used
