Blower switch and harness buring out #4

What causes this? I have burned out 2 pigtails and switches in the life of this car and recieved this from a friend today so I know it is not limited to me.

Running it all the time causes this - Resistors are generate heat remember.

That connects to the blower switch? Never seen anything like that. Soda is as good a theory as I can figure.
