help w/ battery relocation!! Im lost!!
Hey how you doing guys?
First of all I wanna say that I love the forum!! Ive gotten so many answers from here. It is amazing, and the people do know what they're talking about!!
I'm having some trouble, and hope you guys can help me out!! I have a 01 roller rocker sr20 sentra!! I relocated the battery behind the passenger seat. Everything was nice, untill the fuse from the dist. block to the starter kept blowing up! Ok no big deal, i went and got me a non fused dist. block! was working great, until one morning the starter was completely dead, like fried! I install a new starter, and same thing. car did nothing when I turned the key. So i went ahead and return the battery to original postion, and like magic the car turned on (w/ new starter) ! I wanna know what i did wrong!? :/ !!!

the setup was::::: gauge 2 cable from battery to dist block, then from dist block to starter/fuse box.
gauge 4 cable from (-) grounded on passenger bottom bolt!!!
Id really appreciate it if you guys can guide me on this! thanks!!
ohh and stock battery!!

Not sure exactly what could of went wrong, Doing a battery reloaction is pretty basic and it appears the wiring etc you used is fine. But where you went terribly wrong is here :

If it kept blowing a fuse that means there is a problem To replace with a non fused distribution block you didn't fix the problem you just raised the
the ceiling on the breaking point and maybe thats why the starter fried. I am not sure what the problem had but you never want to do something like that.
That fuse was cheap insurance and was showing you there was an issue.

Best of luck fixing your issue, Let us know what you find out but never do something like that again you will ruin something or cause more harm than good.

BTW, Welcome to the forum tons of great people and knowledge here.

You have a bad ground. Clean the paint off and bolt the ground to the chassis, not the seat mount. Also make sure the ground that went to the factory battery location is still grounded well. Also check the wire size again, it should be 4 AWG wire at a minimum. And please put a fuse in it.

Thanks for the replies guys!! and yes, im glad im part of this forum!!!
I was told I might also need a dry cell battery (optima ). My neighbor told me I do need to ground the battery to the factory ground point as well? Kinda makes sense.
anyways, I ended up getting another alternator as well.... good thing it was under warranty.

My first thought as well.

Your starters were probably still fine.

ground the battery in 3 different places in the trunk. and add a ground from the frame rail to the engine.also, as a rule, if a fuse ever blows, NEVER replace it with a bigger fuse or bypass the fuse.
