Are you trying to get hood protection? "The alarm is triggered when the hood opens?

You can use a hood pin switch that would install onto the hood. Basically a ball-bearing that connects the circuit when the hood is opened. Extremely simple to install, more reliable. Places like BestBuy and Circuit carry them for their own installs.

Just wanted to add: seeing as I install these things day and night here, if anyone ever has any question on it, even the 'what wire goes where' questions, I'd be more than happy to help out. I've seen too many people installing them doing it wrong or simply guessing, I'd like to help the community do it right!
