Capacitors...what's a good brand now-a-days?
I have a modest system (1amplifier=50amp fuse rating) and am getting dimming lights when turning it up loud. Battery isn't very old, upgraded ground wires, etc. Not worried about that. So, I'd rather get a capacitor to help with the bass hits.

What are good brands? A link would be appreciated!

Thanks!

you don't have one at all?

edit: I've been using Stingers 2 Farad's without any issues.

capacitors are band aids to a weak electrical system.

with your one amp you shoulnt be getting dimming lights at all

A cap will NOT prevent headlight dimming. A cap just stores energy. If the cap does not have enough energy to store, from an inediquite charging system, then it will do you no good. Your headlights will continue to dim, although they may dim at a different time which is sometimes why people think caps are working.

Yours lights should not dim with a modest system. Sounds like you need to replace the battery. If the charging system has issues adding a cap will make things worse. caps are for transient response. I use a 2 farad cap I think its made by lightning audio. Stinger makes good stuff as well.

Weird cause my voltage is good at the amp. The battery voltage seems good with that. I have an alpine amp and head unit, so the gains are turned up to 4v on each.

I would check at the alternator, the battery and the amp to check for voltage fluctuation. what is the alternator rated for?

that is odd. if its putting out 90amps you should be fine. I would try a cap and see if it helps. Does not sound like the charging system is weak.
