What are you trying to do? 16v no alternator or 16v with alternator?

I ran a 16v powerXS battery on my drag car and it only lasts about 20-25 minutes of run time before you need to recharge. That was with no alternator.

Im going to attempt to see how the alternator reacts to the 16v battery when I make the changes to the car. Gonna see if it will keep it charged up at 16v. If not ill be going back to a 12v battery.

Advantages of having 16v....well thats a given. More power to everything. On a drag car its especially important on the ignition and fuel pumps. They work at their optimum power levels with 16v applied to them.

Disadvantages......well if it works with an alternator just fine I really dont see any disadvantage to it. All of the electronics can run on 16v with no issues.

Cons without an alternator would be its a big pain in the ass to have to keep charging it and so on. Either way whether I keep the 16v battery or not, im going back to an alternator.

16v with alternator. the battery i have in my car now sucks ass. i drive a g20 and with all my accessories on ive noticed my battery level will drop to 11.7 and come back to 13.1. but it will fluctuate between 12.1 and 12.7 on a normal day. in my other car its a constant 13.7. and both batteries are located in da rear of the vehicle

Thats probably your alternator going out. lol.

If this is a daily driver just stick with a good high amp rated battery and make sure the alternator is in good working order. You can get a newer alternator from a ve, b15, p11 for cheap and its a bit higher amp rating than the older units. Just gotta put a new larger ring terminal on the harness to fit the larger stud.

No reason for you to go 16v.
