you get what you pay for. I have opened several new amps and the quality is not there. Its a good thing they are cheap. the only amp I have opened that looked like it was constructed well was JL audio. Personally I have sound stream reference series amps. The real ones that were made in the 90's.

I run Mcintosh which are 10+ years old. They still are better made then 95 percent of current amps out there. You do get what you pay for in this category. You are part right in the wiring department but you still something to put on the wiring. Would you buy a quality turbo and put a junk intercooler on it? or not upgrade the fuel system? I ran audioquest cables back in teh day. My interconnects were pure silver, spiral wrapped and then wrapped again in a noise reducing RF coveing. I had more money in 1 set of a 3 foot RCA then most ever put in their head unit. Yes i was that serious about winning. Since he is getting rid of the p10 i dont even know if this is a moot point.

Macintosh amps were the SHIZ back in the day man. I still run old school XTANT amp and my brother has PPI Art Series from that era. Those were quality stuff back in the day. The issue with Macintosh now, they were bought out by Clarion like 6 years ago and just haven't been the same.

Blair just wants something simple and compact without spending a lot of coin.

Yea i heard Clarion did that. I also have the head unit mac made too. When you hooked up the headunit to the amp it had a anti clipping device in it that would not allow you to blow the subs. Problem was some people hated the look of it. Down at my parents in a box i still have a 6 channel blade amp, a 4 channel butler tube amp. a couple audison products, some third octave EQ, and some speakers and amps most have never heard of. I have a monolithic (super hi-end and the only true class A ive ever seen) it draws 25 amps at idle but sound is unmatched. Ive also got a component set converted from hi-end home speakers. Its scanspeak 8 inch mids with 3.5 inch dynaaudio silk dome tweeters. I tried the image dynamic horns when everyone loved them and i wasnt a fan.

If you remeber some of the big names bitd like richard clark, i sat in his grand national..the one that supposedly the shiz and i wasnt impressed at all. Very bright. I like a high range a bit mellower thats why i ran the silks. Good luck on you search I honestly have not kept up with the modern stuff. As long as my old stuff plays and sounds good im not messing with it.
