help me pick component set
need something really clean and clear and can get loud while still being really smooth. Unfortunately all I have is cookie cutter shops around my area and can't go listen to much. going to listen to some Focals today or tomorrow but also looking into Dynaudio, Rainbow, DLS, ect, ect. just want an upgrade for my blown CDT's (that don't sound that great to me anyway) lets say $500.00 budget. of course, I can go cheaper or a little over

Dynaudio system 240 no doubt. They like lots of good clean power and a uber clean unclipped signal. I fed mine 300-500 watts a side and they sounded amazing. They also like nice sealed enclosures if you can do that....

its going to be powered by a Zapco Ref350.2 so I will not be putting out that much power, just decent clean power
I also have a 3 way system in there now, so also thinking a possible Focal 165VR3. I have heard those and I do like them, and know that I can turn the tweet down a bit and would be down in the kick.

i you decide to go active, or can have custom set of crossovers built, I highly highly recommend:
seas lotus metal dome tweeters
and
seas lotus 7" woofers

some people prefer the poly versions of these speakers but I personally prefer the sound of the aluminum drivers.

edit: dont be put off by the fact that the woofers are 8ohms, they are very efficient drivers.

well, I went with the Focal kit. It does sound good, but wish I would have done a little more research and did build a system or go with either the Dynaudio or DLS system
