Water Temp Gauge wiring problem - help pls.
Hey guys,

Did a mini wire tuck on my B13. Ran the harness in the wheel arch and around the back of the motor. Today my water temperature gauge wire somehow got caught on my cv shaft and got ripped off near where it exits the harness en route to the sender.

Figured I'd wire it back up quickly but when I got under the car I noticed there are 2 wires exiting the harness and both were ripped off it seems. One is black. One is yellow/black. I fitted a new lug to the Water Gauge sensor and tested both wires. Non of them cause the water gauge to move. Even tested them both together. Still nothing. Took a multimeter and tested the sensor in the motor. I got NO reading. Compared this to a spare motor I have standing around and I get a reading between the sensor and say a metal bracket on the Power Steering.

So I figure the sensor got damaged. I will call Nissan tomorrow for a new one. The spare I have is JDM.

However, how do I know which of those wires are the right one for the gauge? Which one should be connected to the sensor? And what would the other one be for? A ground maybe? Hoping someone has an idea of how the wiring works on this gauge sensor.

I am stressing over driving the car without a working water temp gauge.

I did a lil wire tuck too recently...when I get off work I can check the wire colors for ya...unless someone beets me to it.....

Th is is the stock oem water temp gauge wer etalking about right? Not aftrmarket?

I thinl there should be 2 or 3 wires there...i know one is just a spade connector for the dash gauge and the other is for colant temp sensor...but ill check when I get home...

Thanks guys.

Managed to trace the wire and installed a new temp sensor too. Everything 100% now.

The pics really helped.
