HID lights for Depot Tsurus
I am looking for input/info in HID setups...

I need a set of new headlights. My 93 lights have been reconditioned and protected for a couple years ,but the lenses are finally cracking and yellowing again.
I am ready to try something new on there.

I was thinking of buying some depot Tsurus and trying to do a DIY HID setup.
However,I dont want to blind oncoming drivers, and I want proper use of my highbeams.
I am not looking for the "hey look at my blue HIDs" look.I want to be able to see,for the least amount of investment.

This is a temporary solution to my current headlight problem.
I already have a brand new set of Nissan Tsuru lights that will be going on my car when I paint it(who knows when that will be,if ever.lol)
I just dont want to experiment on the Nissan ones

Please post up your setups, feedback and parts used/prices
I may even consider paying someone to make me a set if the deal is fair

thanks alot!

Honestly the best setup I have seen was a retro fitted bi xenon projector kit in the tsuru housings. The kit cost any where from 135-300 depending on the brand. I am about to switch my single beam xenon kit to a 55 watt bi xenon kit. I found the the 35 watt single beam not to enough. My beam pattern is good and does not blind drivers but it does not provide enough illumination at distance.

I know how I did my HID set-up. It involved a rather large investment of cash on my part.

Shawn demanded the best for his Nissan Tsuru and chose the OEM FX45 Projectors with the TSXR Lense upgrade, along with the Apollo Projector shrouds for an OEM look. The headlights are being powered by OEM Philips D2S bulbs and OEM Denso ballasts, along with a heavy duty plug and play H4 Bixenon wiring harness. The housings were left in original chrome to retain the factory look. Additional sealant was added to prevent any condensation issues. If you have any questions regarding this conversion, please contact us. Thanks.

Squeaky clean OEM full-functionality and appearance HID install.

Up close and personal.

Looks factory clean, right down to the heavy-duty custom pigtail.

I'll be interested to see at the Convention if any "home-brew" HID kits can match my professionally implemented set-up. Gawd knows the home-brew kits will be far (faaaaaar) less expensive. I paid Lightwerkz about $1,200.00, bought brand-new MDM Tsurus for them to work on, and then I sent the finished Lightwerkz product to Larry (Tearoffguy) to have him put a fancy protective film on the front of the units. All told, with all the shipping and whatnot, I spent about $1,800.00 on the set.

Not hitting an animal at night in my beloved SE-R? Priceless.

Keep in mind I went absolutely "top of the line" on everything. Lightwerkz has much less expensive set-ups, will sell you parts, and their Customer Service & Support has been absolutely outstanding, top-notch. Something you might not find with an E-Bay Vendor.

Shawn,yours are the ultimate,but I am looking for something on a sentra budget,niot lambo..LOL
BTW what was the total on that setup after all said and done(not including what tearoffguy did)

This is technically a temporary solution to my current light issues.I may just have to get a used set.

Wait till you see my new Lambo winged doors. .....

Not including the brand-new MDM Tsurus or Tearoffguy, I spent $1,249.00 with Lightwerkz.

Lightwerkz offers much more affordable do-it-yourself kits. Like I mentioned, their Customer Service is crazy-good. Caesar has had to take care of a few concerns/issues with Joeys (Automotive, installing the lights) and Caesar has been ultra-professional, uber-quick, and no-nonsense about getting things absolutely perfect for me (the customer). I could not be happier about how Lightwerkz has handled this sale and follow-through.

Don't forget this home-brew HID set-up that was cross-posted in my Members Ride thread:

Looks pretty slick.

I hate the look of projectors. Especially on B14s, but wow your B13 custom kit looks amazing Shawn.

I agree.I dont like the look of projectors either.
It seems like the light output is better that way, though.

Thanks.

I requested that they look as OEM as possible, like they could have come directly from Nissan. Further, I specified full OEM reliability and functionality. Lightwerkz has exceeded my expectations.

I live waaaaaay out in the country. 2-lane highways through farms and woods. Dead critters litter the road-sides all the time. Skunks, possum, racoons, deer and hogs. Those last two could easily be the death of my SE-R. The light output from my MDM Tsurus with the very best fancy Phillips bulbs was still not cutting it. And I was getting sick of trying to be home by sunset or slowing down to a crawl when it gets dark.

My motivation behind this (rather financially extravagant) cutting-edge HID performance lighting upgrade was a quest for a much higher safety margin at night.

I was using Tsurus with fancy, expensive, Phillips Extreme bulbs.

That combo is nowhere near the output of an HID system. It is no contest.

No apologies required nor expected my friend. You did the right thing passing me along to the correct individual and company to meet my budget-be-damned, ultra-high requirements and expectations. You did me a tremendous favor and I appreciate it.

Which is why I will always call you first about lighting. You can probably help me yourself, or I know you will give me good honest advice on what to do or where to go. That is what a Vendor should do, look out for their Customers best interests. That is what creates a long-term, unshakeable, level of trust and hence a business relationship that lasts.

Greg V comes to mind. You're in the same category.

Lookin' forward to it. An old buddy of mine is now DJ'ing at Silver City. I can have some fun seeing you and yours, slap a new custom part on my Classic, and then go look at titties. I like the whole sound of that.

And shouldn't you have some input on HID systems? ......
