Thread: how to fit speakers in the rear deck

ok i have a 93 b13..and i recently bought some mid-range speakers..now they are 6inches but they have a big magnet..now the problem is when i mount them in the rear they touch the trunk rods..now is there any way around this ? i do not want to remove the trunk rods..i've thought about putting hydraulic type of rod as seen in hatch's but i'm not too sure...any advice..thanks

I made wooden spacers to raise mine up and away. Something I'm not 100% happy with, but it worked.

yep, what ben showed you there is the best option, the other way to keep the profile down is to get shallow-magnet speakers. They make them with pick-up trucks in mind but the same principle applies here. To get your speakers you have now to fit means either removing the rods or raising the mount.

Hm good tips here thanks. I have another question. A double din headunit can fit in a b13 if i relocate the hvac controls right

The HVAC controls and the small, 1-DIN cubby beneath it is your only clean option for a 2-DIN head unit. You might be able to relocate the HVAC controls up to where the head unit normally goes, but that could be a nightmare if you have the mechanical HVAC setup most (all?) of us have.

Thats exactly where i was going to relocate the hvac controls to. Is there a wiring digram to see how hard it would be to relocate it

I thought it was only a few cables that would have to be extended?
