Wiring up an amp.
So I plan to install two 12" Kicker Comp VRs in a ported box with an 800w 2 channel SPX amp this weekend. The problem is - I don't know where to route the power wire for my amp. I've decided to hide the amp under the seat so it gets cool in some way and so it's not sitting right behind the subs. I've heard of some people running it through the door into the fenderwell then up into the bay, but I've heard that's not safe. Anybody have any good ideas? I'm trying to avoid drilling a hole in the firewall, but if it comes down to that I will. Thanks to anyone that can help.

Look for a rubber grommet in the firewall, then just poke a hole through it...

I do still have A/C. Which wiring harness? The one for the stereo? I wish I wasn't so damn tall and knew where all of this shit was. I'm fairly new to this car. I knew my S13 like the back of my hand.

Run it either through an existing grommet, or drill a hole in the firewall (make sure to put some silicone in the new hole so water doesnt leak into the cabin). keep in mind the rest of the process when finding a location. I try to make holes on the driver side of the firewall so that when I snake the wire through the hole, it comes through under the steering wheel so its easily reachable from inside the car. Then run the wire under the driver side kickpanel (where you would find the hood release cable) and along the plastic kickpanels in the door jam (where you would find the trunk/gas tank release lever) and into the back. If your mounting the amp in the trunk, you can run the wires under the back seat.

DO NOT RUN WIRES THROUGH THE FENDERWELL!
This is a method commonly used in Flea Market Installations. does this tell you anything?

The problem is that I legit can't find an existing hole with a grommet. I've searched my firewall and can't find anything, so I guess I'll be stuck drilling a hole. Unless someone knows of an existing one I couldn't find. I might just go through my radio connections though, see where the leads me. My friend used his antenna hole so maybe I'll use that.

follow your positive battery terminal on the inside of your drivers side fender through the firewall...

Go through the engine bay find a garment and just feed it through that way.

Take out the inner fender liner on the drivers side, you will see a huge 4" grommet. Poke the wire through and watch it come out the other side. Nothing is easier than this.
