If you are talking speakers for the front. Then you want to go separates. You will get the best highs out of them and you don't need to do kick panels at all.
If you are going to be doing that you might as well get some edead from here.

And you can't beat it for $1 for a sqft. Put on the MDF adapter or cut out that you are using and on the outer panel of the door behind the speaker and where ever you can get to. It will help with the clean sound and vibration.
As for MDF adapters sometimes it is easier to buy them but you still have to mod them to fit. But if you have a jigsaw you can do it yourself with 1/4".
