Have you checked it out with a meter yet?
Seriously,not to insult you,but checking the power wires for 12V is as basic as you get as far as electronics go.You will find the problem in literally seconds!
Buy a cheap ass multimeter meter or even a cheap test light will work for that(1.99?) before you go to a shop.
If I knew ,I would have put one in that box of parts you got from me for free.I have a extra couple of the testlights here.They come free with some electronics.
