Recommendations for loud, non-girly car horn.
I figured this might be the section for this.

I'm in the market for a good horn for the Sentra. For as long as I can remember people have been dissatisfied with the volume (decibel level) of our stock horns. I'm no exception. I got sick of the stupid air horns I had and have removed them a while back but I need something to replace it with. Something simple. Just a 12v, low draw horn or two, nothing with air tanks, or capable of crowd quelling.

I've ruled out those red Hella horns that seem to be popular as too high pitched/girly. People made fun of my air horns as being girly, and I can't take the shame any more. I'm thinking something along the frequency of a Volvo 240 horn or maybe an e30 horn if you've ever heard them. The Volvo unit is actually a horn too, which is rare these days. I'd like to know if the people with the Xterra horns are happy with the loudness and frequency since that seems like an obvious choice?

What cars have you driven that you liked the horn from?

I just found this on YouTube. This seems like what I need to do. Just get a couple of Fiamm horns of different tones at the local parts store and call it a day.

Now that I'm reading more I think the e30 has two-tone horns as well. Seems like the way to go. Wire them in parallel to make sure I get the volume I'm looking for? =D

I grabbed a low horn from a Q45 in the junkyard and my car sounds like a pickup truck now. I even bolted it up on an empty hole on the hood lacth support bracket. Ran a wire from my old horn to the new horn and I have both pitches like that mazda 3 up there but mine is deeper.

I can make a mini-vid tomorrow and send it to your cell phone if you'd like.

120 decibels of loud:

And my favorite:

Stock Subaru RS horn, vs. Hella Supertones. Note: You don't hear the echo of the stock RS horn. You hear the Hellas bouncing off of objects long after the horn is let up

I like the WRX horn but I am not sure how girly it sounds.

Check out a horn from a mid 90s accord. Easy to find at scrap yards. Still sounds stockish without making you feel like a little girl.
