Idea for shift light..
YouTube - LEDmod.com Color Changing Gauge Face [Shift Light]

This has got me thinking... I wonder if I could fab a second set of red LEDs in the cluster, and run them to a gutted shift light.... Hmmmmm. Gotta find an extra cluster & I'll be giving it a try... Only issue I run into is that obviously the original whites would still be on, so I wonder if the red would be bright enough to shine through decently..

I dont think it would be bright enough for daylight use, you would still have to look at the cluster to see the change. I would rather drill a hole in the center of the cluster and use a nice 10mm LED that you could not miss.

True. I'm thinking it may work at night if I used single white LEDs for the stock spots in the cluster, and used like a 2 or 4x next to each for the red...

There is plenty of space behind the face to put as many LEDs as you wish and you just get multi color LEDs to change at a certain RPM. Or use multiple LEDs and have them switch over. It would be a simple circuit but i dont think it would be bright enough through the stock gauges.

As soon as I can find a cheap enough cluster I'll give it a try.. I have a bag of about 500 red LEDs from an old "RadioShack Electronics Kit" I had when I was younger. Worth a shit.

Also, I don't really want to go as all out as that one is in the video, not on my first try. I'd like to make the entire cluster change to red at set RPM

Though, looking at it again I guess it's really not that all out.

you like to end a lot of thread huh man? hehehe... when you drive your car enough, you should know when to shift anyways. I rarely look at the tach when im getting on it cause by the sound of the engine I know its time to shift. I guess if you wanna get it right on the money every time, then this would bea good idea. I used to just have one hidden in my a/c vent. Didnt see it at all, but the light was there when you needed it.
