Thread: aftermarket alarm problem

my SE-r has an aftermarket code stopper alarm (was already on the car when i bought it), after the engine swap last year the alarm portion doesn't not work, but the keyless entry and starter disable does work, i found the alarm module looked up the model number and found a manual for it, looked up the flashing code and it just means there is a general problem with the unit, I have traced all of the wires I can find and nothing is broken or cut

any idea if i should just take the alarm system out and install a new one? or take it to an alarm install shop for them to charge me an arm and a leg to diagnose it?

ps: it is a 2 way system with the lcd screen and the maintenance symbol is turned on

I would guess that the unit is bad and will have to be replaced. Double check your grounds but other than that if it is working somewhat but not fully then i would expect the unit to be bad. You can install a new one fairly easily since all of the wires are found for you, just install the new one wire by wire as you pull out the old one.
