Thread: switching dashboard question

ok, so i want to convert my interior in my b14 to black..and that includes the dashboard..my only potential problem is the VIN is attached there..i know i could just drill out the rivets and attach it to the new dash..but something seems illegal about it..can i do that? or do i have to go to a shop and have them do it? like an NYS certified shop or something? IDK..

I know plenty of people who have swapped dashes and vins with no problems at all. As long as the car is legit you won't have any problems, a cop won't know the difference if you swap it or a shop does it, you don't even have to tell the cops anything cus it will look stock. Just don't try to tape it on or something stupid...

It would be illegal if you kept the wrong VIN on the dash. Swap it, use rivits if you are worried. Otherwise just a nut and bolt.
