I am soo glad. I kinda figured it was the head unit. I am going to buy a new HD Unit this Thurdsay.
Oh, no. I did not run a single source ground. Thanks for the defination. The only grounds are the radio to the chassis, and the amps to hatchback bolts.
I am going to google symptoms of bad pre amp.
Thanks again.
BTW, should I switch the RCA while I am there? I think I should being that it was that that I was tightening because of a staticy channel.

I doubt you damaged the rca cables, but if you are running non twisted pair rca's I would upgrade. I would also run a signal source ground. The factory ground for the audio system in all nissans suck. I would run a ground to the large frame brace that is directly behind the radio. Its round so its kinda hard to tap but makes a great ground point.

I have some old 1997 Monster Cables. I had too much problems with them.
Signal Source Ground, where on the radio chassis do I wire that?

ok you will need some wire 12-16ga wire. speaker wire is works good for this. attach a ring terminal to one end. use a self tapping screw and attach the ground wire to the frame brace behind the radio(round steel brace that runs behind the dash). You also want to run the head unit ground to this same point. run the source ground along with the rca cables to the trunk. Attach the other end of the ground to the ground point for the amps(chassis ground).

I have rca cable that are older than that that work perfect. I also worked in the car audio industry for years and only have top of the line stuff. I would get some twisted pair rca's. The brand is not that important. Some people will tell you the brand is important but I can tell you there is very little difference when I hook them up to a O-scope.

I will take a pic of the cables and you tell me if they are twisted, OK?

just buy new rca cables that are noise canceling. twisted pair are just noise canceling cables. I used to make my own back in the day before you could buy them. Here is an example of some inexpensive units.

Got it. From radio chassis to tapping screw ground. Then from ____ parallel with the RCA to trunk amp grounds?
