Profec B wired into Cigarette Lighter + GPS = blown fuses?
Hey,

I'm still wiring stuff up to my car. The next thing I want to tackle is my Greddy Profec B 2 boost controller. I currently have two lightbulbs for gauges spliced into my 12V wire for the hazard lights. I was thinking of splicing the Profec B 2 into my cigarette lighter power source. The worry I had about this is that I use the cigarette lighter to power my GPS. If I splice the Profec into my cigarette lighter, will I have issues when using my GPS + Profec at the same time? Is there any fear of blowing a fuse or other issues? If there is, is there something I can wire in to help that? Or maybe there's an alternative location? After this, the only thing I have left to wire up is my A/F gauge.

Thanks!

I have four gauges, my radar, my wideband controller, and my GPS all tied into my cigarette lighter.

Edit, 10A of current is quite a lot when you look at the above items I have spliced into my cigarette lighter socket. The wideband controller AND gauge only require a 5A fuse. Prosport gauges don't require anything more than a 3A fuse, and the GPS, I'm not sure as it's fused separately.

As far as current draw, none of these devices use very much that would cause a fuse to pop.

don't be lazy. run a wire from the back of the fuse box. Also running off the lighter should not be a issue.

Ahh, great to know. I'm at least splicing the EBC on there then this weekend to get that done. EBC will be mounted in place of the ash tray. Never used that thing anyways.

Run a wire? What?! I don't have time for that

Running a wire from back of the fuse box for the A/F gauge sounds like a good idea because that's where it'll be mounted close to. Not really sure how to do that though :o

power comes from the battery to the back of the fuse panel. I use a fsm to find the correct wires. The lighter should be fine it has a 15amp fuse.
