As for gauges, I notice a lot of you guys are using electric gauges. I've never been a big fan - feel like I an trust a mechanical gauge much more than an electric one. Seen too many bad oil pressure sending units

mechanical gauges are only better depening on the type of mechanism used. If you have a flex bellow mech the gauge can be damaged very easily by over ranging the gauge. I have seen pressure gauges destroyed the first time they are used.

Hey Cliff did your gauges come in yet. Post pics or I'll be forced to drive up there and beat you down

Yes they are in, but not installed yet . I'll install them tomorrow. First thoughts in a little bit, just got into the hotel room

Time for initial thoughts:

First of all, as you can easily (maybe not?) see, the gauges are manufactured in Taiwan. No surprise there. I'm not complaining though, becuase I've had my share of Taiwanese electronics parts and none of them have given me any issues (we're talking about consumer electronics, which is the category I'd place these gauges into). They actually feel of the same quality that my autometers do, so I'm not sure why some complained that they felt so cheap. I'd imagine that if autometer gauges felt so cheap, more people would complain since they cost so much more.

I can tell immediately that the tint on the gauges is now lighter than previous models of the prosports that I've seen. This is a good thing, because many complained about not being able to see the gauges easily. They also include hood visors.

Water Temp: Gauge's scale is from 100* to 320*. I don't imagine ever seeing something above 220*, at least I hope I don't!

Picture of the sending unit: Seems pretty heavy duty.

Oil pressure gauge: Gauge scale from 0-110psi. Again, perfect scale I think. Shouldn't see over 100psi cold.

Oil pressure sending unit: This thing is HUGE. I think that's the only complaint I have so far. Note the fitting type/size. 1/8"-27NPT. Obviously will not fit in the stock pressure switch location, so I'm stuck using my Nissport adapter back there =\ Unless of course any of you know of an adapter from 1/8"NPT to 1/8"BSPT...

My little helper mechanic inspecting the sender:

Boost Gauge: Scaled from 30inHg to 30psi. I think this range is perfect. I don't see myself with more than 18inHg, or more than 28psi.

Comes with filter and MAP sensor:

Filter to be used between boost/vac source and MAP sensor, to keep contamination from affecting the MAP sensor's components.

Standard 3ft. wiring harness that comes with every gauge.

Rear of the Oil pressure gauge (they all look the same, aside from the label being different)

Flash off (note there's still a protective cover on the lens, you may or may not be able to see it in this pic):

Anyhow, that's my "review" on the gauges, so far. I'll be posting up once I get them installed tomorrow.

Don't use that filter. They crack.

Thanks for the heads up Pete. I'll look for another one to be used. You think this one will suffice for now?

So I'm an idiot, and I spent ALL DAMN DAY trying to figure out why the only gauge that worked was the oil pressure gauge.

Apparently, the wiring for the electric boost gauge is not the same as the other gauges, and I had the water temp gauge and boost gauge harnesses swapped. I got home and checked on the website and they stated that the wiring harness is the opposite, so I ran out to the car and swapped them really quick and they all light up WOOHOO!

Tomorrow I'll swap sending unit signal wires and I should be in business. So far, the oil pressure gauge seems to be quite a bit off from the autometer. The autometer never pegged out on cold start, but the prosport gauge would pass 110psi on cold start, and rock solid around 80psi. Warm idle after dogging the car out a bit I'd see between 20~25psi, and cruising around 60psi. It's a lot smoother than the autometer, though. It's pretty damn responsive compared to the autometer, as well.

Tomorrow when the boost gauge and water temp gauge are hooked up correctly, I'll see how much better the boost gauge is compared to the autometer.

A small video I put up on youtube of the gauges. I suck at commentary

I know a few people that run these guages and they could not be happier. Did you get the ones with the warning feature?
