Prosport gauges and Perrin gauge pod
i ordered some prosport gauges after reading up on them in the subaru and dsm community. i had asked about them here after seeing a deftracing.com inquiry about hoods. well it started with some questions to the company with very prompt feedback. like i emailed monday night at six pm and had a reply at 8pm the same night. well i ordered 2 gauges. electronic boost and electronic egt. parts arrived next day, they are in burbank ca, i am in lancaster. price was 52 for boost 88 for egt. the gauges feature a black tinted lens so that when they are off you cant make out what they are. they light up in either amber or white, using leds. they are very bright and easy to read. i currently have them hanging cause the pod isnt here but will post some pics later today or tomorrow of them on. i did not use the amber color, i just wanted white but thought it was cool they could be one color in day and one at night. the gauges that are electric feature a opening ceremony where the gauges do a full sweep at power on. well i am gonna take some pics in a hour or so so if there are questions let me know and just check back.
oh only gripe was in the instructions. a simple one page paper. that tells you to find ignition for 12v, acc, ground, and parking lamp, and the wires for sensor(boost or probe in my case). the confusion was acc, and parking. theses are power for the two lights. white-acc, amber-parking. remember in my case i didnt need amber so that wire is left hanging(orange is the color of the wire), and acc(white wire) was ran to a ignition switched item. hope thats not too confusing just trying to help. the boost sensor is mounted on my firewall, and the wires run back in to a ground and ignition source again with a green wire feeding signal to the gauge. wow that is detailed i hope. till later....
ok here are a few pics, the car cant be turned on- waiting for a turbo line so just go with the commentary and imagine with me....
1.this is a dark pic in my garage no power to gauges but so you get a night idea...
2.this is with the camera flash on so you can see.. they are 52mm
3.flash off but the gauges are now powered up.
4.flash on with gauges on a simulation of daytime i guess.
5.a quick pics of boost sensor. i used vaccum lines i had cause the little clears one that are included are said to kink.
will update more once car is put together. thanks for reading...
finally adding a few as the final of this post so please let anyone curious look here... this is with the perrin universal dual gauge pod it is a 3 bolt setup that goes onto the steering column cover. take care sorry it took me like a year.....
