This Is A HeadLight Bulb Question.
I dont need any HID talk in this. I just want to know what has been the experience of people who have used aftermarket lightbulbs.

I have no idea what brands and so on but I keep hearing people say these aftermarket bulbs burn out the wire harness going to to light. Now is this true or all talk.

I want to hear from the guys who have experience with aftermarket bulbs and I want to know if any of the brands have burnt the harness from the bulb being too hot or is it some time of electical stain on the system that causes the wires to run hot.

its higher wattage bulbs that will burn the wiring loom, not aftermarket ones,

I run the silvania silverstars, ~$40 per pair. They are bright; however, my discoloured headlamps make them dull.

Higher wattage just creates more heat. The fog light wiring loom is easier to burn as it can't handle too high of a wattage.

I remember reading on ser.net the max wattage headlamp/fog light should handle.
Found it:Brighter Lights

Pull out a bulb and read it. I had silverstars with the stock glass headlights and they looked nice on the car but in terms of visability. Looked the same to me.

I've used the Sylvania Silverstars on my B14 and P10 with no issues. They're rated at the stock wattage of 45/65 for the headlights. My B14 came with 35W H3 foglight bulbs from the factory. I've ran 55W bulbs in them for the last 10+ years with no problems. And I've been running the 55W H3 Silverstar bulbs in the P10 fogs with no problems either.
