You could use edead v1 or spray foam stuff that Sentrixx used when he put 7kv's in the rear deck. Seperating the back wave from the front wave of the sub is crucial to getting any good output from the subs. That's why this would work well with the ikea brace cause it completely fills up the hole behind the seats right?

the shallow mount subs wont fit under the front seats?

How much depth do you have under the seat anyway? If you have at least 4 inches you might be able to make a shallow mount work.

Yeah, that is too shallow to work with. Here's what I'm running currently:

So anyway. Im looking for somewhere else to mount them. The rear deck isnt too bad of an idea, but Im wondering if I can do it while keeping my stock speakers, maybe going with one larger (still under 8") one in the center of the deck.

If anyone has any other ideas for mounting points in the cabin, go ahead and throw them out there. The more ideas, the better.

Have you seen these Blaupunkt models?

You don't have to worry about turning the sub on and off — just feed it some music and it'll respond, and it shuts off one minute after the tunes stop. Preamp- and speaker-level inputs provide easy connection to nearly any stereo system, and this handy little thumper comes with all the wiring and mounting accessories you'll need for installation.

Details:
compact powered subwoofer
8" woofer with polypropylene cone
70 watts RMS amplifier (peak power: 140 watts)
variable low-pass filter (40-120 Hz)
phase switch control (0-180°)
frequency response: 30-120 Hz
preamp- and speaker-level inputs
9.8' power cable included
dimensions: 14"W x 3-3/8"H x 8-15/16"D
warranty: 1 year

I am considering a new head unit, door speakers, rear shelf speakers, and this subwoofer.

The head unit powering the doors and rear shelf speakers, cutting everything below about 120 hz or so. Utilize the subwoofer, cutting out everything below 30 hz.

Should be pretty solid in the little bitty cabin of a B13. I am also using a bunch (I bought 200 sq ft) of Elemental Designs best sound deadening stuff. Between the sound deadening and my "audio system" design, I should be able to get plenty of volume inside the vehicle. I have no interests in a sound system you can hear and feel from two lanes away. Just reasonably loud, crystal clear, and with some decent bottom end.

On the other hand, I wonder if two (2) eighteen-inch subwoofers would fit in my trunk?

Sorry for chiming in so late.. Haven't been on the forums alot these days. Well here are a few pics of what I did in my car. The first set-up was pretty nice. It actually hit pretty good for being I.B. Even with 150RMS to both speakers.

Now as for the new setup I have.. I am not currently able to post pics due to like Tommy stated. Its currently in pending stats. When it is ready I will be able to bring them back.

If you need any help let me know. I highly recommend the Eu-700 or as they are now the 7Kv.2's. They are heavy duty little bastards.

Yeah I had 2 of them in a vented box tuned to 30hz too. Amazing output for 2 little subs. Got really low too and I was only givng them about 100 watts rms a piece.
