Thread: How to: Modify B13 fixed intermittent wipers to variable intermittent

Seems like all the hard work is done, and you just need to get the proper resistor/pot values sorted. What are the ohm ranges on the factory stalks you've tried, and what's worked for you using an external pot?

It's been a while, but most everything is in the thread. If I remember correctly the '91 Maxima stalk fit into the B13 switch assembly the best, but there was still an issue with it making contact with the washer fluid switch. This was a whole other issue I didn't even get to the point of addressing and I lost interest suddenly after my daughter went through some fairly serious health issues, everything is good now though .

At this point I don't even have a B13 to continue testing on, but based solely on the fact that none of the non-B13 stalks fit well or were completely functional within the B13 switch assembly it is of my opinion that this is not worth pursuing as an "all in one" mod with OEM parts, especially considering the availability of the Euro and PHDM switches. But if one doesn't mind the separate potentiometer as I did, then it's a fairly easy mod.

Another thought that I had was cutting a rectangular slot into the USDM B13 stalk, just to the left of the "Off/speed" lettering, and mounting a small volume "wheel" like you might find on a small radio, onto the back but protruding through the hole. The wires could then run down the back of the stalk and into the switch. This would be a much cleaner, more contained approach.

Anyway, it was nice to read back through this thread, I'm glad you guys reminded me. I'm pretty proud with what I accomplished.
