i've got a gtir up in vancouver, bc, canada, which i daily and luckily had no trouble with the gearbox/drivetrain items. Car runs strong and always puts a smile on my face.
i'd say the toughest thing to find would be axles, axle seals, windshield glass, rubber moldings, gearbox, rear diff, transfer case. you can source a lot of parts from ebay, the UK, and various forums. if you're intending to make some monster power, then u may want to consider looking for spare gearbox's. i've managed fine around the 300ish hp mark for 8years on 17psi on the stock turbo.
lots of parts interchange, just takes some homework.
car is fun, it stands out, everyone recognizes me in town which is sort of a curse. Body is getting old, and some rust cannot be avoided. luckily i have new rear fender metal that i sourced from the uk that i can have welded in.
in terms of performance driving, i've installed a modena torsen lsd up front, and a nismo 2 way rear. i autox, and occasionally use it for autox (mainly autox with a crx/ ef civic or miata o s2000), without the 2 way the car suffers from massive understeer.
all in all my car has been reliable. things that have needed replacement, cv boots (generic), alternator (2x use 90A from newer gen sr20de), exhaust (custom), coolant hoses (ebay silicone), clutch (off any sr20det), clutch master (unique), slave cylinder (unique), fuel lines, axle seals (axxess), tie rods (maxima), starter (internals same as g20), power steering pump (same as ga16de), steering rack (unique). regarding the steering rack, u could probably geta way with no power steering as it almost feels like it has none.
drivers (rhd) seat rail will not interchange. there is a hump for the transfer/cat/exhaust/ and the seat rail sits above it. i have a corbeau fx1 pro on sliders with side mounts and u end up actually sitting higher than the stock seat by an inch or so. if i had unlimited funds i'd use rectangular exhaust tubing around this area and cut out the hump. then i can weld the slider to the floor. taht would be my only gripe, and that the act xtss is a heavy son of a b. on the pedal. was planning on a big power bump, but have decided not to and likely selling my car next year for something newer.
if you got parts questions or nething related you can pm me.
